Lila, a character in a children's story book, suddenly falls out of her paper world and becomes trapped in a world where she doesn’t belong and discovers that only Ramón—the now–grown owner of the book who no longer believes in fantasy—can save her. With the help of her new friend Manuela, Lila tries to convince him of her situation, and together they embark on a risky journey to the Desert of Lost Memories to recover her lost book.

Lina, Andrés and Tandita are three children who live in rural areas in southwestern Valle del Cauca and who have been left to care for relatives because their parents had to leave in search for work. The universe of each of these children reflects a very common problem in many Colombian regions: families broken by constant migration to the large cities due to the lack of work opportunities.
