The portrait of an extraordinary French dancer-choreographer: Jean Babilée (1923-2014) is filmed at home, in the streets of Paris, at the Opera Garnier or at the Champs-Élysées Theater, “always caught, even in his kitchen, in full body work”.

Far from Standardised visual recording, Akerman and her accomplice, the cellist Sonia Wieder-Atherton allows us to discover a fine moment of contemporary music.

In Hoppla!, two choreographies by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker are brought together and performed to the music of the Hungarian composer Béla Bartók: Mikrokosmos, seven short works for two pianos, and Quatuor no. 4, Bartók’s fourth string quartet. The reading room of the Ghent University library, designed by the renowned architect Henry Van de Velde, serves as location.

While researching their subject’s life for their feature My Life and Times With Antonin Artaud, co-directors/writers Gerard Mordillat and Jerome Prieur made a documentary on the famed French actor/writer/poet that died in 1948 at the age of 51.

This film is the result of a passion shared between Béatrice Soulé and Eric Serra, music composer of The Big Blue, for the exceptional talent of Doudou N'Diaye Rose, percussionist and rhythm teacher at the National Art Institute of Dakar. It was crucial for them to keep a track of the rhythm of the major drum leader of Senegal and they organized in the Island of Gnor a concert that this film restores us. Under the small amphitheater made of stone, the great virtuoso give us to see and listen to a great moment of joy because Doudou N'Diaye Rose dances as much as he drums. And for the fifty percussionists and one hundred members of the Julien Jouge's church choir, this is also the celebration of the bodies.
